About 100 patients had to be evacuated as a precaution when a large fire broke out at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Sunday. When a fire started in the basement of Rajasthan Hospitals in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, fire trucks were dispatched right away. There are now firefighting efforts continuing, and no reported injuries to date.
Teams of firefighters are battling the blaze. The hospital's basement, where the fire started, is still emitting smoke, according to police inspector MD Champavat.
As a precaution, "nearly 100 patients have been evacuated from the multi-story building," he continued.
It was yet unknown what started the fire.
A benevolent trust manages the hospital.
