4 people are killed as a member of the Railway Protection Force fires at a Jaipur-Mumbai train

 


Four passengers on a train from Jaipur to Mumbai were fatally shot by a member of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Three passengers and an ASI for the RPF were among the victims.

Constable Chetan of the Railway Protection Force shot each of the four victims. Monday at around five in the morning, between Vapi and Borivali station, the incident took place.



At the moment, the accused constable is being detained at Borivali Police Station. The incident happened on the Jaipur Express' B5 coach (trailer number 12956).

"It was reported on train no. 12956 at 5.23 on 31.7.23 that there had been a firing in B5 coach," the police said in a statement. It was established that CT Chetan, who was assigned to escort, had fired on ASI Tika Ram, the escort in charge. Three civilian casualties have also been confirmed, in addition to ASI, since the train landed in BVI, according to preliminary information. Senior DSC BCT is en route to the location.

"Said constable has been apprehended. It has been informed of DCP North GRP. To be followed: a thorough report, the police added.

The defendant fired about 12 bullets. He shot the passengers and his senior officer using an AKM weapon. The AKM is an altered version of the AK-47.

Officer Chetan fired three shots inside the train. One was the B5 coach where two people were shot and killed, one in the pantry and the other in the S6 coach.
