According to reports, eight patients in a government hospital in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, passed away from a lack of oxygen. The family of the deceased reportedly blamed the hospital's administration for the oxygen shortage.
Participants formed a protest against the hospital administration after becoming enraged about the alleged medical neglect and trashing the facility's property.
In response to these allegations, the hospital administration claimed that only underlying illnesses led to patient deaths, not oxygen deprivation. They said that there was an abundance of oxygen present throughout the building.
According to the information that is currently available, the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at the hospital received six of the eight patients.
Due to the circumstances, the Superintendent of the Government General Hospital intervened and started a thorough investigation. As part of the investigation, the Superintendent provided the district collector with a comprehensive report.
The Superintendent disputed any claims that the fatalities were caused by an oxygen shortage in his report. The inquiry determined that the patients' deaths were caused by a number of medical conditions.
