A 108-foot-tall statue of Sri Rama will be erected in Mantralayam

The 108-foot Lord Rama monument, dubbed the "world's tallest," will soon be completed, and Mantralayam is ready to take in its splendor.

On Sunday from Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah officially lay the groundwork for the Rama Temple project.

The Jai Shri Ram Foundation is working on the famous project, which is expected to cost 300 crore rupees. The majestic Lord Ram statue is being created by renowned sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar, who is best recognized for his work on the Sardar Patel statue in Gujarat.

In front of the monument, on a 10-acre site, and about a km from the famed Mantralayam Sri Mutt, will rise a Ram temple.

The god has great significance because Raghavendra Swamy, the presiding deity, is revered by millions of followers. Subudhendra Theertha, the seer of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, gave the installation of Lord Ram's heavenly idol 10 acres of land in consideration of this.

Under the expert direction of architect A Velu, this temple will be designed as a superb stone structure.

This endeavor extends beyond the Mantralayam temple and the statue of Lord Ram. Ambitious plans are underway to build small temples on the grounds of the Rama temple there, with inspiration from shrines like the Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple, the Vishwanath Temple in Kashi, the Narasimhaswamy Temple in Simhachalam, the Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand, the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, the Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple, the Cheluva

Subudhendra Theertha, a seer of the Mutt, and members of the Mutt were there, along with labor minister Gummanuru Jayaram, Mantralayam lawmaker Y Balanagi Reddy, former Rajyasabha member TG Venkatesh, and others.

In addition to Amit Shah virtually setting the foundation stone, the Mutt priests performed the ceremonial rites in accordance with tradition.
