Anurag Thakur, a BJP leader, and Union Minister, claimed that Rajasthan has the highest rate of rape cases and that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot sacked Rajendra Singh Gudha for speaking out against violence against women in the Congress-ruled state rather than prosecuting criminals.
According to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, 1.09 lakh crimes against women have been reported in Rajasthan over the past four years, and 22 percent of all rape cases in India have occurred there.
"What happened in Begusarai is right in front of us, yet Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, said absolutely nothing about it. According to Thakur, Rajasthan has overtaken all other states in terms of crime against women.
The Union Minister's comments follow Ashok Gehlot's dismissal of Sainik Kalyan Minister of State Rajendra Singh Gudha on Friday for criticising the state government regarding crimes against women.
Instead of bringing up the problem of Manipur, Gudha stated during the discussion on the Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Bill 2023 in the state Assembly, "We should reflect on the way we have failed to provide security to women in Rajasthan and atrocities against women have increased."
