At Delhi Airport, a SpiceJet aircraft catches fire while undergoing engine maintenance


On Tuesday, a SpiceJet airplane caught fire while undergoing engine repair at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Both the aircraft and the maintenance staff are secure, according to a spokeswoman for the airline. The spokesperson claimed that when performing an engine ground run at around 8 o'clock at the time of the repair, the engineer noticed a fire warning on one of the engines.

On social media, a supposed video of the incident gained a lot of attention.

"The SpiceJet Q400 was undergoing maintenance on July 25. The aircraft maintenance engineer saw a fire warning on the #1 Engine while doing an engine ground run at idle power at bay. spokesperson: "An aircraft fire extinguisher bottle was discharged.

The airline claimed that a fire crew was also dispatched to the area as a precaution.

Video has surfaced

Additionally, a fictitious video of the incident appeared on social media and is already going viral. A burning portion of the airplane was visible in the video, spewing thick, billowing smoke that swirled in the atmosphere.

According to the airline's website, Q400s are turboprops with seating capacities of 78 and 90 people, respectively.

Indian airline Spicejet was established in 1984. A temporary 50% cap on the airline's ability to fly flights was placed in place in October of last year as a result of a series of incidents involving air safety. The aviation watchdog DGCA announced earlier today that SpiceJet had been removed from its expanded surveillance program.
