IIT Roorkee Convocation 2023 was held on Friday, July 18 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. 1916 degrees were granted in total, including 1077 undergraduate, 685 master's, and 154 doctoral degrees.
B V R Mohan Reddy, the Institute's Board of Governors Chairman, Dattatri Salagame, the CEO and President of Bosch Global Software Technology, as well as other delegates, students, their families, and staff members, attended the convocation event.
According to a press release from IIT Roorkee, Dattatri Salagame, the event's chief guest, gave the convocation address, and Prof. K K Pant, the institute's director, and Profs. U P Singh and Apurba Kumar Sharma, the dean of the school, also attended the ceremony where the degrees and medals were awarded.
Indian wear, specifically the Kurta for men and the Saree for women was required for the occasion. Prof. Apurbba Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, gave opening remarks and congratulated the graduates. IIT Roorkee Director Prof. K. K. Pant then gave a welcome address.
155 pupils, 115 of whom were male and 41 of whom were female, received a total of 125 medals and cash awards.
In addition, 46 gold medals were given out to the students, including renowned awards like the President Gold Medal, Director Gold Medal, and President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal in addition to a number of Department Gold Medals. The Institute Silver Medal, Institute Bronze Medal, and various Donor-instituted Medals were among the additional 8 medals that were given out.
"In today's rapidly changing world, the role of institutions in forming the future leaders cannot be overstated," IIT Roorkee Director K K Pant said during the ceremony. This is particularly true in the field of higher education, where organizations like IIT Roorkee have led the way in encouraging innovation and excellence.
