At least five bogies of the Howrah-bound Falaknuma super fast express were destroyed by fire on Friday near Bhongir. One of the bogies caught fire, and it quickly spread to the others. The pilot halted the train after being alerted by the passengers, and the passengers got off.
Rushing to the scene were eight fire trucks from Hyderabad and the Yadadri district. Teams from the Yadadri Disaster Response Force, Rachakonda Police, special parties, Railway Protection Force, and railway police assisted the rescue effort in addition to the firefighters.
According to DCP Bhongir M Rajesh Chandra, all of the damaged bogies are reservation compartments. Everybody in the bogies was able to safely disembark the train. In the accident, some of them lost their luggage.
Although the event is being investigated jointly by the RPF and the Railway Police, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
"All passengers are safely evacuated and shifted in buses after a fire broke out in the Falaknuma Express near Bhongir rural PS limits," DGP Telangana Anjani Kumar tweeted in response to the incident. The Police Department, Fire Department, and Railways are cooperating.Â
No fatalities have been recorded as of yet. Eleven of the 18 coaches are safely detached and removed. Three of the seven bogies that caught fire have had their fire put out as of right now.
