The father of the victim, Dashmat Ravat, was received by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday at his official residence in Bhopal, days after a video of a BJP member urinating on a tribal man went viral on social media.
The CM was seen conversing with the indigenous man in the meeting's footage and pictures. Both were observed planting trees. In the footage, Chouhan can be heard asking Dashmat about his family and his income. Chouhan is seen washing the man's feet in a video.
The CM is also heard comparing the man to "Sudama" while promising him every available assistance.
After a video of an alleged party member peeing on the face of a tribal man in Sidhi went viral on social media, the Shivraj Chouhan-led BJP government in the state came under intense criticism from the Congress party. Even though the footage is allegedly from 2020, the event put the BJP on the defensive in the state that is headed for elections. In the footage, Shukla can be seen smoking a cigarette and peeing on the face of a young tribal person.
The accuser, Pravesh Shukla, was detained on Tuesday night as a result of quick action by the ruling party following the release of the video. He was charged with violating the Indian Penal Code, the SC/ST Act, and the National Security Act.
The unapproved portion of the Shuklas' home had to be demolished, per a state government decree.
The victim was reportedly forced to sign an affidavit under duress stating that the viral video was phoney and that he has no issues with Shukla by the accused and his family. Dashmat, however, claimed to the police in his testimony that the footage was authentic and occurred in 2020.
