After the Election Commission of India set January 1, 2024, as the qualifying date, deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Surabhi Malik on Tuesday sought the assistance of recognized political parties for a special summary revision of picture electoral records.
In order to raise public awareness about supplying accurate information to ensure the integrity of the electoral records, DC solicited the assistance of political parties.
The deputy commissioner announced that booth level officers (BLOs) had already begun house-to-house surveys for additions and deletions in voters' lists from 21 July and will finish the exercise on August 21, 2023, while presiding over a meeting with members of several political parties in her office.
According to her, BLOs would check the data/information gathered from residents during the door-to-door activity and also gather data/information from unenrolled/dead/shifted voters.Â
She enlisted the help of political parties to raise public awareness about the importance of giving accurate information so that the electoral records are clean, wholesome, and inclusive.
The rationalization of polling places, according to Malik, will take place from August 20 to September 20, 2023. There will be a rationalization of the polling places with more than 1,500 voters. On October 17, she stated, draught electoral rolls would be published. The final publishing of the electoral roll will take place on January 5, 2024, and claims and objections may be made between October 17 and November 30, 2023.
Malik stated that the district administration will also begin outreach efforts to entice residents to come forward and verify the information of current electors by providing a copy of one of the following:

Malik stated that the district administration would also begin educating residents in order to persuade them to verify the information on current electors by presenting a copy of one of the following documents: an Indian passport, a driver's license, an Aadhar card, a ration card, or another document authorized by the commission.
