Government of Karnataka agreed to add Rs 3 to the price of Nandini milk

The Karnataka Milk Federation's (KMF) request to increase the price of Nandini milk by Rs 3 has been approved by the Karnataka Cabinet. On July 27, the Cabinet convened and approved the idea. On August 1, the new pricing is anticipated to take effect.

According to Chief Minister Siddaramiah, toned milk, which previously cost Rs 39 per liter, will now cost Rs 42. He continued by saying that this pricing is less expensive than the toned milk prices in Tamil Nadu (Rs 44 per liter) and other locations, where they are often offered for between Rs 54 and Rs 56.

TheSwipeUp reports that during a meeting with the Chief Minister last week, officials from the KMF and district milk unions decided to raise the milk price. The meeting also resolved that farmers would benefit from higher prices.

In November 2022, the state's former BJP administration permitted a 2 rupee increase in the price of milk. The KMF requested an Rs. 5 price hike for Nandini milk in June 2023. KMF Chairman Bhima Naik reportedly stated that the district milk unions also demanded a price increase because the price increase under the BJP's administration did not satisfy farmers.
