Sony Pictures Networks has received a notification from the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) accusing it of airing objectionable material. The video, which has gone viral on social media, depicts a scene from "Super Dancer - Chapter 3," a popular children's dancing competition that was shown on Sony Entertainment Television, in which judges confronted a young contestant with "inappropriate and sexually explicit questions" about his parents on stage. The episode must be immediately withdrawn from all platforms, per the commission's request.
The notice from NCPCR reads, "The Commission has come across a video on Twitter from your child's dance competition Super Dancer Chapter 3 which was broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television, wherein it is seen that the judges on the show were questioning the minor child on stage in a vulgar and sexually explicit manner about his parents.
The Commission, it was further said, believes that all of the questions posed to the underage child were "inappropriate and disturbing in nature and not meant to be asked to children."
The Juvenile Justice Act of 2015, the Information Technology Act of 2000, and the Commission's rules on children and adolescents participating in the entertainment sector, according to the NCPCR, were all broken by the network's conduct.
A governmental agency charged with protecting children's rights, the Commission, demanded an explanation from the media outlet as to why these impolite inquiries were addressed to a youngster on a children's dancing program. In addition, they demanded that the network stop airing such inappropriate material on their channel and deliver a thorough report on the steps taken within seven days.
