IRCTC fines the caterer Rs 25,000 for finding a human nail in the food on the Vande Bharat Express

 

Following the discovery of a nail in the meal provided to a passenger of the Vande Bharat train traveling from CSMT in Mumbai to Madgaon in Goa, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation fined the catering company Rs 25,000. 

The aforementioned traveler shared a video of the dish that contained a nail on social media.

Additionally, there have already been a number of complaints regarding the subpar food on the Mumbai-Goa train. 

The IRCTC has since established a number of protocols in an effort to prevent such events. According to reports cited by The Times of India, an executive-level officer would henceforth ride in the Vande Bharat trains to oversee the onboard services. Additionally, the IRCTC has tightened security at the base kitchen in Ratnagiri, where food for the Vande Bharat train traveling this route is loaded. 

The poor quality of the food served on the Mumbai-Goa train has also already been the subject of several complaints. 

Since then, the IRCTC has put in place a variety of protocols in an effort to stop incidents like this. An executive-level officer would now travel in the Vande Bharat trains to manage the on-board services, according to claims quoted by The Times of India. The base kitchen in Ratnagiri, where food is placed onto the Vande Bharat train traveling this route, has also been secured more tightly by the IRCTC.
