The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in a statement on Wednesday that it has apprehended notorious convicted mobster Lawrence Bishnoi's top aide Vikramjeet Singh alias Vikram Brar after bringing him from the UAE.
Brar, a native of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, was associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in numerous incidents, including extortion, targeted homicides, and the murder of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022.
According to those with knowledge of the situation, Brar was detained in Dubai by UAE officials. To complete the deportation procedures and bring him to Delhi, a team of NIA representatives was dispatched to the UAE.
His arrest was described as a "big catch" by the NIA, who said Brar was wanted in 11 crimes, including the shocking murder of well-known Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, well known by his stage name Sidhu Moosewala.
He was also implicated in cases of weapon smuggling and extortion in India with the assistance of feared gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar (located in Canada), and others, the report stated.
At the urging of states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi, 11 lookout circulars were issued against Vikram Brar in 2020 while he was still at large.
According to the agency, Brar ran a "communications control room" (CCR) for the Lawrence Bishnoi terror gang in the United Arab Emirates.
