NDA's 38 vs Opposition's 26: Complete lists of parties at Delhi, Bengaluru meets

Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), spoke with Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, on the second day of the United Opposition meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

In order to discuss strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, leaders from 38 National Democratic Alliance partners and 26 opposition parties are meeting in Bengaluru and New Delhi, respectively.

Tuesday will feature official conversations, as opposed to the informal discussions that took place on Monday and were followed by a dinner gathering. At the Monday night dinner meeting, all political parties were requested to submit names for the alliance. These names would then be considered, and a decision would be made after reaching a consensus.

According to some reports, the parties may also create a committee to oversee the grouping's operations, make a common statement, and elect Sonia Gandhi as its chairperson. From 2004 through 2014, Sonia Gandhi presided over UPAs 1 and 2, which were in power.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, on the other hand, is planning a large display of the strength of its alliance on Tuesday. According to party president JP Nadda, 38 members of the ruling NDA have confirmed their attendance at the meeting, which will also include Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The opposition parties have been gathering to establish unity in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but this will be the first such conference of the BJP-led NDA during the second term of the Modi government, underscoring the party's focus on emphasizing its capacity to form alliances.
