No evidence of carelessness by the previous Lucknow SSP has been found in the Sarwan Sahu murder case, according to the investigation panel

In relation to allegations of negligence in the February 2017 Sarwan Sahu murder case within the Saadatganj police station limits of the state capital, a probe panel established by the Uttar Pradesh government has cleared former Lucknow senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manzil Saini, senior home department officials said on Friday.

She was charged with negligence for failing to provide Sarwan Sahu, 58, with security protection despite repeated requests. On February 1st, 2017, he was fatally shot.

Saini, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 2005 batch, was the city of Lucknow's first female district police chief.

Since January 23, 2019, she has served as the deputy inspector general (DIG) of the National Security Guard (NSG) headquarters in New Delhi while on central deputation.

According to a senior police official with knowledge of the development, the state government appointed a two-person inquiry committee made up of Sanjeev Tyagi, the SP for Ayodhya intelligence, and additional director general (ADG) of state intelligence Bhagwan Swaroop.

He claimed that the committee, which had been looking into the situation since June 20 and had examined the accounts of numerous police officers, journalists, and members of Sarwan Sahu's family as well as Saini's response, had cleared Saini in its report.
