On Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that France and India have agreed to deploy the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in this country of Europe, creating a sizable new market for Indian innovation. Modi claimed Indian tourists will soon be able to make rupee payments via UPI from the top of the Eiffel Tower while speaking to the Indian community at the La Seine Musicale, a performing arts center on an island in the Seine.
An agreement for the usage of India's UPI has been made in France...The prime minister announced that it would begin at the Eiffel Tower and that Indian tourists would now be able to pay in rupees there via UPI.
The quick and secure French online payment platform Lyra and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the institution that oversees UPI services, inked a memorandum of understanding in 2022.
By signing a contract in 2023, UPI and Singapore's PayNow made it possible for users in either nation to conduct cross-border transactions. The UPI payment system is already used in the UAE, Bhutan, and Nepal.
To expand UPI services in the US, Europe, and West Asia, NPCI International is in negotiations. In the midst of "Modi, Modi" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai" chanting, Modi also announced that a statue of Thiruvalluvar, a famous Tamil philosopher, would be erected in the Cergy Prefecture within a few weeks or months.
