At the stumps, Pakistan had a score of 178-2 at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Due to heavy rain, all of the play took place during the morning session. By the afternoon, the rain had ceased, but the outfield was still muddy. Because of this, the umpires decided to halt play for the day and continue it 15 minutes earlier on Wednesday.
Pakistan overcame Sri Lanka's first-innings total of 166 when the game resumed with a score of 145-2 before a downpour forced the players off the field.
Over the course of the game's 43 minutes, Pakistan scored 33 runs. A 57-run unbroken stand for the third wicket between opener Abdullah Shaffique and captain Babar Azam has seen Shaffique reach 87 and Azam reach 28 not out.
On Monday's first day, Pakistan needed just 48.4 overs to get rid of Sri Lanka after the visitors elected to bat first after winning the toss. Abrar Ahmed, a leg-spinner, took four wickets, while Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi both took four.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the opening Test, and all it needs is a draw to win the two-match series.
