The Excise Department requests that Delhi Metro only permit one bottle of alcohol

The excise department of the city government objected to the relaxation and called for a revision in the rule a month after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation decided to allow the carrying of two sealed spirits bottles in the metro.

One sealed bottle of alcoholic beverages, such as rum, vodka, and whisky, may only be transported from one state to another, according to a senior official who quoted the Excise Act to make this point clear. The DMRC's policy of allowing two bottles violates the Act because it operates in Delhi and the nearby cities of Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, the officer continued.

Various cities have various legal ages.

The department also voiced worries about the lowering of the legal drinking age. "While selling alcohol to anyone under 25 is illegal in Delhi, doing so is legal for people under 18 in places like Gurugram. This implies that minors can carry alcohol into Delhi from other locations and drink it there," the officer continued.

As a result, the DMRC received a notice to investigate any infractions committed by commuters using metro trains to travel between Delhi and the cities of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
