Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has stated that her party will decide whether to join governments after the upcoming general elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh in order to maintain a "balance of power" and fight for the welfare of the underprivileged.

This year, Mizoram as well as the other four states, are expected to hold their assembly elections in October or November. In a meeting conducted on Tuesday at the BSP central office in Delhi, the BSP leader reviewed her party's plans for the assembly elections in the four states. She voiced concern over the party MLAs defecting in her address to the party leaders and officeholders.
She claimed that by winning seats in subsequent assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, the BSP had established itself as a force to be reckoned with.
However, she claimed that the parties hostile to the BSP and the ambitious employed a variety of ruses to persuade the party MLAs to form administrations. It undermines the BSP movement and betrays the will of the people, she continued.
Mayawati stated that the BSP has been promoting the ideologies of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram while working for social reform and economic emancipation of the poorer sections in the four states.
"The BSP can join the government in order to establish a balance of power in these states. It can help the Dalits, move things along, and stop their tyranny, exploitation, and unfairness, she claimed.
"The weaker sections and religious minorities residing in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana can get the benefit of their Constitutional rights only when an alliance government compelled to work for the welfare of the people and not a government that is strong and egoistic comes to power," she said.
