At least 22 people were killed and 80 injured in Pakistan, after 10 carriages of the Hazara Express bound for Rawalpindi overturned when the train derailed.
The accident happened on Sunday near the Sahara railway station, located between Shahzadpur and Nawabshah, Geo TV reported.
The Hazara Express is heading to Rawalpindi from Karachi.
"Currently, the focus is on rescuing and getting people out of the derailed compartments," said Pakistan Railways Deputy Director Mahmood Rehman, adding that the cause of the accident was under investigation.
Pictures showed rescuers and police trying to pull people out of the derailed compartments as well as civilians also participating in the rescue work. Those affected have been transferred to Nawabshah People's Health Hospital, as reported by Geo TV. According to officials, the exact cause of the derailment remains unknown.
An emergency protocol was put in place for nearby hospitals after the accident.
