4 people arrested for transporting banned synthetic drugs in Mangaluru  


To make Mangaluru drug-free, police from the Municipal Crime Branch (CCB) arrested four people and recovered 200 grams of MDMA during two operations in the city, police said Wednesday.

Three people were arrested in the Falnir area of ​​the city for selling the synthetic drug MDMA, which was brought from Bengaluru during a raid by a CCB group led by CPA P A Hegde.

MDMA is prohibited under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

Police arrested A N Mohammad Hanif (47), Syed Faujan (30), and Sirajuddin Abubakar (35), all from the nearby Kasaragod district in Kerala.

Police seized 100g of MDMA worth Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4,000 in cash, three mobile phones, a digital scale as well as the car the defendant was using. The aggregate value of the seized properties is estimated at Rs 10.94 lakh. A case has been registered at Mangaluru North Police Department.

In another case, CCB police arrested a person from Alape village near Mangaluru Junction train station for selling MDMA. The defendant was identified as VK Ibrahim Arshad, also from Kasaragod in Kerala.

Police seized 100g of MDMA worth Rs 5 lakh, Rs 1,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and a digital scale in his possession. The total value of the property seized is estimated at Rs 5.11 lakh. Officials said a case in the matter was registered at Kankanady police station.
