8 stuck in a Pakistan cable vehicle; 5 children rescued as rescue operations continue

In Pakistan, a rescue effort is in progress for eight individuals, including six children, who were stranded on a cable vehicle that was suspended over a valley. According to the Associated Press, thus far, five kids have been saved. The rope broke, leaving the automobile hanging 274 meters (900 feet) above the earth, which led to the disaster.

The line is reportedly "suspended by a single rope" at the moment, according to officials. In a mountainous area of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the event occurred at around 07:00 local time (02:00 GMT) when the kids were crossing the valley on their way to school.

Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister of Pakistan, instructed officials to "urgently ensure safe rescue and evacuation of the eight people stuck in the chairlift" after learning of the "alarming" situation.

Additionally, he mandated that "safety inspections of all such private chairlifts be conducted to ensure that they are safe to operate and use."

This occurs as two military helicopters arrive on the scene as the army begins the rescue operation in Battagram. Videos that were extensively disseminated on social media showed a "commando" making his way down to the cable car below from a helicopter. In order to give the passengers inside instructions, the commando initially descended to the cable car, but owing to the area's severe winds, the commando was forced to retreat, according to GeoNews.
