A cow attacks a Chennai schoolgirl coming home in a viral video

A schoolgirl from Chennai who was on her way home with her mother and brother was repeatedly attacked by a cow. The young woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken urgently to a local hospital.

The incident was captured on security cameras, and the upsetting images of it have since gone viral.

According to the police, the incident happened on Wednesday while Ayesha, a nine-year-old schoolgirl, was strolling down Ilango Street in the MMDA colony neighborhood with her mother and brother.

The images showed the girl, her brother, and her mother walking in front of two cows.

The nine-year-old was assaulted by an aggressive cow after the girl's younger sibling made some noises.

The cow attacked the girl repeatedly after picking her up with her horns.

Locals and bystanders came after hearing the cow's mother scream, and they threw stones and made noises in an effort to scare the cow away. They tried several times before the cow finally moved on.

Due to her head injuries, the girl was taken urgently to a local hospital. Her status is reportedly stable at this time.

Officials from Chennai Corporation caught the cows.

Officials from the corporation informed India Today that if the cattle are found to be causing annoyance to the public by wandering on the roadways or if other rules for cattle breeding within the city limits are broken, they will step up attempts to impound the herd and fine the owners.

The police have also filed a police report (FIR) against Vivek, the cows' owner.
