A court here on Saturday sentenced a woman and two others to life in prison for the murder of her 32-year-old husband in 2019.
Police Chief Rohit Singh Sajwan said: “Kapil, a resident of Mawana area, was strangled to death on July 14, 2019. His wife Nishi and accomplices Ankit and Rajesh were arrested in the investigation process. Police said Nishi had an affair with Ankit and wanted to separate from her husband.
“However, she is afraid of losing the land in her name if she separates from her husband. This is why Nishi and two other defendants strangled Kapil and hung his body on a tree to make it look like a suicide," SSP said. Police have filed an indictment against the defendants in the case.
“The judge of the Supplementary Session Court sentenced the three defendants to life imprisonment and also fined them Rs 10,000 each,” the SSP said.
