Ajit Pawar stays away from his uncle at the Modi event in Pune

At the Lokmanya Tilak National Award ceremony in Pune on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar were the center of attention in the political world. Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister who abandoned his uncle on July 2 and joined the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition, was among those in attendance at the event.

After the NCP split, this was the first occasion that both elder Pawar and his nephew were spotted at a public gathering. Ajit, on the other hand, steered clear of his uncle, who had arrived at the location ten minutes earlier than Modi and fled the dais as soon as the award ceremony was done.

Although it was a private meeting, senior leader Sharad Pawar and Ajit met at the YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai on July 17.

Along with Ajit, other attendees were deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and chief minister Eknath Shinde.

While the Congress and the Shiv Sena, two opposition parties, had voiced their discontent over NCP leader Sharad Pawar attending the event as the chief guest, party MP Supriya Sule had stated that discussion is crucial to democracy despite political disagreements.
