A 65-year-old principal of a school for children with special needs in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old student with mild dyslexia.
According to sources, the principal, who happened to be the girl's neighbor, took her home and raped her.
Police said the incident came to light when the girl returned home complaining of abdominal pain.
The girl returned home at about 3 a.m.:
30 p.m., a little later than usual, and complaining of discomfort to her mother, they said.
The girl's mother found blood stains on her clothes. The girl recounted the incident when her mother gave her a bath, police said, adding that the girl's mother then rushed to Varthur police station and filed a complaint with the manager.
Police said the director was arrested under relevant sections of the Child Protection from Sex Crimes (Pocso) Act.
They added that the girl is being treated at a private hospital and is stable.
