Boat capsized off Mumbai near Versova beach, 2 fishermen missing  

 


Two fishermen who went fishing off the coast of Versova are believed to have drowned on Sunday. The incident was reported on the morning of August 6. According to initial information, 3 fishermen had ventured out to sea to catch fish when the boat capsized.

The boat overturned about 2-3 km from the shore, a man who could swim was lucky to survive. This man has been identified as Vijay Bamania.

The two fishermen still missing are Usmani Bhandari, 22, and Vinod Goel (45).

The three men went fishing in Devachiwadi in the Versova region between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday.

A fire official said search operations by the fire, police, navy, and rescue forces were underway to locate the two missing people. The search began at 10 a.m.

Rescuers used rings and ropes to locate the missing. Local fishing boats were also deployed in the search operation.

BMC's MFB was the first to report the incident. It was locals who saw the boat disappear into the water and triggered the alarm. "Currently, the search and rescue operation is underway, Today there is a high tide around 3pm and we hope to carry out the operation until late evening if there are no obstacles due to the weather. rain," an official was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
