Body of 11-year-old boy found in bed in Delhi

The body of an 11-year-old boy was found inside a bed at his home in Delhi's Inderpuri district on Thursday. The boy has a strangulation mark on his neck.

Police took statements from the boy's mother and a murder case was filed.

Neelu, the victim's mother, told police that when she returned home on Thursday night, she found her home locked from the outside. At first, she assumed the boy was out for a walk, but soon received a call from his dance teacher about him dropping out of school. Neelu and her husband, Jitendra, have filed for divorce and live separately. When her son disappeared, Neelu called Jitendra, but a woman answered.

According to Neetu, the woman asked him how it felt to have his most beloved thing taken away.

She told police she was shaken by the conversation. After a frantic search, Neelu said he found the child's body hidden in a bed box. With the help of neighbors, she transported the unconscious child to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Delhi police said that the accused has been identified and that several teams have been formed to arrest her and raids are underway on places where she may be hiding.

According to the details obtained so far, the suspect is familiar with the dead boy's family and has even visited their home in the past. However, they have feuded over a number of issues, officials said.

Delhi police on Thursday said the defendant went to the house when the boy's mother was not there and allegedly committed the crime.
