Car bombing in Coimbatore: close aide of the attacker has been arrested

One more individual has been detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in relation to the car bombing that took place in Coimbatore on October 23, 2022. Jamesha Mubeen, the suspected terrorist attack's mastermind, perished in the explosion that occurred close to a temple.

Now, Jamesha Mubeen's close friend Mohammed Idris, 25, has been detained by the NIA squad.

The Tamil Nadu police earlier detained seven people after conducting a thorough investigation and collecting evidence, and they later turned the matter over to the NIA. In the end, 11 people were arrested as a result of this. Based on the data gathered throughout the investigation with these 11 individuals, Idris was captured.

Additional NIA teams' investigations have shown that Jamesha Mubeen's cousin Mohammed Azharuddin helped him obtain the materials needed to build the improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Additionally, it has come to light that there may have been preparations to carry out attacks the day before Diwali in a number of different locations in an effort to topple the government.

Jamesha Mubeen reportedly died because the bomb exploded too soon and prevented him from getting to a safe place. His death was brought on by a nail that functioned as shrapnel and punctured his heart, according to the autopsy report.

Additionally, the NIA decided to obtain call records from Mohammed Idris going back three years because they believe he may have connections to global terrorist networks.
