Chandrayaan-3 sends new images of the far side of the Moon ahead of historic first landfall

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Monday shared stunning images of the Moon. Isro Chandrayaan-3's ambitious lunar mission captured the images using the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LPDC) ahead of its historic first landing.

Sharing the images in a tweet, Isro said: "These are images of the far side of the moon taken by the lander's Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera. This camera helps locate the area. safe landing zone - no rocks or deep grooves - during landing was developed at SAC/ISRO.

Launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India, Chandrayaan-3 entered lunar orbit on August 5.

The main purpose of the spacecraft is to safely land a rover on the lunar surface and perform on-site chemical analysis. This mission follows Chandrayaan-2's failed landing attempt in 2019.
