Chennai police arrest man selling fake passports, seize 105 fake documents  

 


The Central Crimes Branch Unit (CCB) of the Chennai Police has arrested a man for selling fake passports to a number of ineligible persons, while another defendant has been identified in the case. escape. Officials also seized 105 fake passports and foreign currency in the possession of the defendant.

CCB arrested the defendant, Mohamed Feroz Khan (45), based on a complaint he received last month about a fake passport. On July 7, an immigration officer at Chennai International Airport filed a complaint with CCB, alleging that a man named Anthonysamy had attempted to enter Malaysia with a fake passport. He was arrested the same day. While investigating the case, police tracked down the main defendant, who allegedly sent ineligible people to Malaysia and other countries using fake passports and documents in exchange for money. He was also assisted by a fake passport agent named Syed Abudahir.

While officials managed to arrest Mohamed on Thursday, Syed Abudahir is currently on the run. Authorities opened a manhunt to arrest him.

Authorities said that 105 fake passports were seized; Malaysian, Thai, and Singaporean foreign currency, counterfeit stamps and seals used by the government and other entities, and electronic devices from the two defendants' residences. Chennai police have warned the public to be careful when applying for passports and visas through officers. Individuals have been advised to submit all required documents to the regional passport offices and obtain a visa from the relevant consular offices.
