The earthquakes were felt in parts of Delhi-NCR, Jammu & Kashmir, and on the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to initial estimates, the magnitude of the quake would be 5.8 on the Richter scale.
According to the National Seismic Center (NCS), the earthquake's epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, 418 kilometers northwest of Gulmarg district in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The quake struck twice at around 9:30', Preeti Shankar, who lives in a high-rise building in Noida, an eastern suburb of the capital, told PTI news agency.
According to the NCS, the time of the earthquake was 9 o'clock 31 hours and its depth was 181 km.
