Congress's Aziz Qureshi starts a debate, says 'no problem if some Muslims die'

After claiming that some party leaders discussed going on religious pilgrimages and being "proud Hindus," Congress leader Aziz Qureshi stoked a debate. Out of the 22 crore Muslims, he added, it wouldn't be an issue if one or two perished.

It is a source of immense humiliation, according to Qureshi, for these individuals to shout slogans like "Jai Ganga Maiya" and "Jai Narmada Maiya." He dared the group to remove him and didn't apologize for his comments.

"I'm not afraid. Take me out of the celebration. Today, Nehru's descendants and members of Congress participate in religious processions, chant "Jai Ganga Maiya," and declare their Hindu faith with pride. They put up idols in the Congress headquarters, and they depict drowning, according to Qureshi.

Qureshi also added that all political parties in the nation, including Congress, should comprehend that the Muslim community was not their property.

"Why ought Muslims to support you? You don't distribute employment. They are not accepted by the police, army, or navy. Why then should Muslims support you? He queried.

Pankaj Chaturvedi, a spokesman for the BJP, posted a video of Qureshi's address on X (formerly Twitter).

Aziz Qureshi has previously held the positions of governor of Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

On January 24, 2020, the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy announced the appointment of its new president.

During the Madhya Pradesh administration, Qureshi served as a cabinet minister. In the Lok Sabha elections of 1984, he was also chosen as a Satna MP.
