Out-of-favor India opener Prithvi Shaw claims that he is not currently considering his future in the national squad and is simply looking forward to enjoying his time playing county cricket. Shaw recently scored his second double-century in List A cricket.
Shaw was at his fluid best on Wednesday, smashing 244 off 153 balls to lead Northamptonshire to an 87-run victory against Somerset in the England One-Day Cup competition
The outstanding 23-year-old hasn't competed for India in the last two years. In July 2021, during the Men in Blue's trip to Sri Lanka, he made his final appearance.
He was not included in the second-string Indian T20I teams for the forthcoming Ireland series and the Asian Games, and he was also left out of the present series against the West Indies.
"I'm (certainly) here for the experience. I just want to have a nice time here, not really worrying about what the Indian selectors might be thinking," Shaw said following the game. "Northamptonshire gave me this chance, and they're really taking care of me. I truly like it, he continued. Shaw looked in excellent form on Wednesday as he smacked 28 fours and 11 sixes en way to his second List A double century while playing in his first county season.
According to Shaw, the batting circumstances were great with the sun shining brightly, and he added that he thought it was his day to go big.
"Today (Wednesday), the weather was something akin to that in India, so it was really looking wonderful. I was not considering anything. "You know this day is for me when an inside edge doesn't get me out. Sometimes you just have to be lucky, therefore I believe today was my day. After then, I didn't look back. I thought I was timing the ball extremely well when I got to 150, and today could be the day to go larger," he remarked. The performance saw the Mumbai batsman surpass his 227-run greatest List A score, which he had previously achieved in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Puducherry in February 2021.
To be honest, I had the number 227 in my thoughts. When Sam Whiteman was present, I spoke to Whitey and informed him that 227 was my best score, Shaw remarked.
"All in all, it was a solid team effort. I constantly aim to help my team win games and I'm the type of player that puts his team before himself.
