Formalization of Vedic Education: A Look at the New Indian Vedic Council MSRVSSB  


In an important move to promote and formalize Vedic education in India, the central government established the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Sikhsha Board (MSRVSSB).

This historic initiative was launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 August 2022.

PURPOSE OF MSRVSSB

The main goal of the MSRVSSB is to integrate Vedic and Sanskrit teachings, thus improving the educational profile of the students involved in these studies.

The board will issue Veda Bhushan (10th) and Veda Vibhushan (12th) certificates, which are accredited by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

In addition to establishing the MSRVSSB, the government plans to establish five regional centers of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan in the four Dhams -- Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath, and Rameswaram -- and Guwahati. THE CURRENT STATUS of Vedic EDUCATION
Currently, there are 123 Pathshalas across the country with 4,600 students and 632 teachers. In addition, there are 258 Guru Shishya Parampara units with 2,240 students and 430 teachers.

There are also six Rashtriya Adarsh ​​Veda Vidyalayas located in six states - Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Assam, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand.

This initiative marks an important step towards preserving and promoting India's rich Vedic heritage and integrating it into the mainstream education system.
