Haryana authorities continued "bulldozing action" and leveled several facilities in Tauru, about 20 kilometers from the violent Nuh on Saturday. Authorities have confirmed that the residents of these "illegal" settlements were participants in the July 31 riots in the area.
Nuh's SDM Ashwini Kumar said the demolition operation was carried out on the orders of Chief Minister Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar.
“It was CM's order. This is completely illegal construction. These people took part in the riots,” Kumar said.
Illegal encroachment by illegal immigrants also leveled the area on Friday. Structures and shacks near the SKM Government Medical College in Nuh were demolished earlier in the day.
The demolition campaign was led by the Haryana Urban Development Authority. Earlier on the same day, authorities also cleared the illegal encroachments just outside the hospital on the way to Nalhar Temple. The demolition operation was carried out amid massive police deployment to prevent any unwanted developments.
However, no official statement has been made by the Nuh government regarding the bulldozer's operation. According to officials at the scene, illegally encroached lands are being cleared, and they do not draw any parallels between the demolition campaign and recent community tensions in the area.
Prior to that, bulldozers were deployed at four locations in Tauru on Friday.
Officials say there are about 40 illegal shops that are being demolished. This is also the site of car fires and stoning when community tensions broke out in Nuh and surrounding areas on July 31.
Meanwhile, Section 144 curfew restrictions continue today in Nuh with certain hours of relaxation for residents.
Riot NUH
Interior Minister Haryana Anil Vij said on Friday that 202 people have been arrested so far and 80 are detained for protection in connection with community clashes in Nuh. He also said the way bullets were fired from the hills and rocks were collected from the roofs of buildings suggesting Nuh's violence was pre-planned.
"I want to assure you that anyone who participates in the violence will not be spared," Vij told reporters in Ambala, adding that the detainees were being questioned. Six people, including two guards and a cleric, died in clashes that broke out in Muslim-dominated Nuh when a procession of the Hindu Vishva parish was attacked by crowds on Monday.
Vij said police are recording everyone's statements and scanning CCTV footage.
He also called on journalists who have come to Nuh to cover the clashes since Monday to provide videos and feeds to the authorities to help them investigate the clashes.
Earlier, Vij also said that Nuh is becoming a new Jamtara – Jharkhand district is known as the cybercrime hub of India. He alluded to a crackdown on cybercrime originating in the Haryana government area.
