Former British cricketer Ian Bell has said he needs James Anderson's experience in the Test series in India, which is scheduled to start in January 2024. Anderson has booked his spot. into the picker's hands after a bad match in the Ashes 2023 where he was given only 5 socket picks. Anderson failed with the new ball despite helpful conditions while Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood served before the Australians.
Speaking after the series, Bell, one of Britain's top Test athletes, said Anderson had experience bowling on dry courts.
"Britain will need their experience in India, not to mention their reliability, to be dry. He's going to have a lot of work to do to help this next British haute couture assault grow," Bell told Betfair.
Asked about England's possible style of play in India, Bell said the team wanted to support their attacking instincts but would do well to adapt their approach to the conditions.
“As Ben Stokes said in the press conference the day before, he was asked if Bazball would cooperate with Pakistan, South Africa, Australia. So yes, it will be used in India. But it would be a suitable Bazball. That's what's so good about the Ashes. England have shown they can learn and adapt as the series goes on. In India, they would have to be smart,” added Bell.
The British tennis players blew Australia away with their aggressive approach. In the test match in Manchester (4th test), the British team hit in one half and scored 592 runs in just 108 rounds. India must be a real test against Ben Stokes' England team, who have not lost a series since the summer of 2022.
