“My husband was held in Attock prison for no good reason. By law, my husband should be transferred to Adiala prison,” she said.

She asked the 70-year-old PTI leader to be provided with Class B facilities in the prison due to his political and social status, Geo News reported. Bushra said Khan "could be poisoned" in Attock prison, according to reports.

She said two assassination attempts had been made against Khan's life and those involved had not yet been arrested.

"His life is still in danger [and] my husband is afraid of being poisoned in Attock prison," she wrote in the letter.

Earlier this month, Bushra met her husband for half an hour, and after meeting Khan, she said he was being held in "appalling" conditions and provided with "class C prison facilities".

Khan, the cricketer turned politician, was arrested at his home in Lahore shortly after the Islamabad High Court convicted him of 'corrupt conduct' in the Toshakhana bribery case and has been jailed since August 5. He was convicted for illegally selling state gifts that he and his family obtained during the 2018-2022 term.

Khan was also banned from politics for five years, and disallowed from participating in subsequent elections. He denied any wrongdoing.

Bushra said in the letter that Khan should be allowed to eat home-cooked meals in prison.

She said that under prison rules, Khan should have received all facilities within 48 hours, but was denied access even after more than 12 days. "According to prison rules, my husband has the right to a private doctor's examination," she said, demanding an investigation into why Khan was not provided with better facilities.

Bushra also faces corruption charges. Khan's third wife was a spiritual healer known for her devotion to Sufism, a form of Islamic mysticism that exalts love.

Last week, PTI's core committee expressed similar concern about Khan's "gradual poisoning" and asked him to be allowed to use home-cooked food and water, The News reported.

The committee meeting strongly condemned the "excessive delay" in providing better prison facilities to the former prime minister.
