On the eighth anniversary of Ethereum, co-founder Vitalik Buterin was spotted in Bengaluru. On July 30, 2015, the decentralized blockchain was unveiled. Sandeep Nailwal, a co-founder of Polygon, posted pictures of Buterin eating masala dosa and ghevar on X (previously Twitter). According to the article, the Indian dessert ghevar served as the "crypto birthday cake."
The caption on the picture said, "Celebrating Ethereum's eighth birthday with Vitalik and Indian 'Ghevar' as cake in Bengaluru." Ghevar is a disc-shaped confection from Rajasthan made from wheat, ghee, and milk and then dipped in sugar syrup.
Nailwal sent birthday greetings to the second-largest cryptocurrency in the world and added that Buterin's visit also featured some "Bharat Darshanam". CrytoRelief's founder tweeted, "Happy Birthday Ethereum! Additionally, have Vitalik perform some Bharat Darshanam.
Ishank Gupta, an angel investor, also got to know the Russian-Canadian coder and had a "fanboy moment" with him. Earlier tonight, he met @VitalikButerin in person with @sandeepnailwal and @manishdiesel, and he wrote, "Literally had a fanboy moment. I had the chance to briefly describe the societal impact that @IndiGG_DAO is having on gaming.
Shiba Inu cryptocurrency coins worth $1 billion were given by Buterin in 2021 to the Nailwa-created Covid relief fund. However, because CryptoRelief had to return $100 million (or around 747 crores) to Buterin to comply with Indian legislation, just 5% of the total donation could be used to fund COVID-19 initiatives in India.
In terms of market capitalization, Ethereum is now only behind Bitcoin.
