India needs Hardik Pandya as a complete player and not just a striker in the 2023 World Cup: Sanjay Manjrekar

Former Indian tennis player Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed concern over Hardik Pandya's form ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup, saying the cricket star will have to contribute more with bats and balls if India is to win the title at the end of the year. now.

Manjrekar is worried about Hardik's form on the recent West Indies tour, especially when holding the ball. Hardik was able to beat as the third point guard in a friendly rotation and also made the majority of shots for India late in their inning.

"Hardik Pandya's form is a bit worrying. He has a lot of work to do at the World Cup. You need him as a complete player, not just a goalscorer. So you need at least 6-7 passes per match. When India won the 2011 World Cup, it was because the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina were beatable," Manjrekar said in an interview with Star Sports.

According to Manjrekar, with Ravindra Jadeja capable of being a pitcher who will handle the runs, he wants Yuzvendra Chahal back among players alongside Kuldeep Yadav.

"Chahal has to take the opportunity in 50 over to pick shots with Kuldeep Yadav because Jadeja will be the stopper pitcher. I think tailoring will be a gamble for most teams of the size and size of the pitches in India."

India's Asian Cup squad will be announced on Monday, August 21 and fans have been waiting too long. With their matches in Sri Lanka, it will be interesting to see what combinations the Men in Blue choose.
