Jasprit Bumrah is excited to make his successful T20I leadership debut in Ireland following his injury recovery

Despite being unable to roll his arm over during the third and final T20I match against Ireland in Dublin on Wednesday, August 23, India skipper Jasprit Bumrah was content. The series conclusion was canceled due to rain, but India still won the task 2-0, with Bumrah earning his first series victory as captain in his debut T20I series.

Bumrah's series was more than just a routine one; it marked his comeback to competitive cricket after a 10-month absence due to a back injury. After having back surgery in New Zealand earlier this year for his condition, Bumrah was in a race against time to be ready for India's ODI World Cup campaign. Despite this, he made a successful comeback to the team and was named Player of the Series.

Bumrah demonstrated to the selectors and the team management that he is prepared for more difficult challenges by bowling 8 overs and taking 4 wickets at an economy rate of little over 4 in the two matches against Ireland. Bumrah gradually increased his speed to over 140 kph while maintaining a relaxed appearance.

When Bumrah was chosen as the team's captain shortly after making a full recovery from his injury, there were worries about the additional responsibility this would have on him. Bumrah downplayed it, claiming he never considered it to be additional pressure.

Being the leader of the youthful team has been a lot of fun. They have all been really excited. Everyone was eager even if the game had already begun and there was some weather present. That was a very encouraging development.

"I don't really think about all that (Did you feel like your head was already racing with thoughts?). Any player would be thrilled to take the helm when given the chance to lead the team. I am therefore not different. It was a privilege. It was really enjoyable. Being a captain entails a lot of responsibilities. You always desire responsibilities as a cricketer. You always want to take charge in any circumstance. Bumrah said after India won the series 2-0, "I'm so thrilled with how the series went.

All is well.

Along with Prasidh Krishna, who has also made his long-awaited comeback from a back injury, Bumrah has been included in India's 17-man roster for the Asia Cup 2023.

In the Asia Cup, which begins on August 30, the pacer is anticipated to direct the Indian offense.

Nothing to complain about. Nothing more ideal could have been desired. However, it was only 10 months instead of a year, Bumrah noted, seeming confident in his physical fitness.

On September 2 in Kandy, India will play Pakistan in the tournament's opening match. The Asia Cup team will hold a training camp in Bengaluru beforehand.
