Jos Buttler will score the most runs at the 2019 World Cup, according to South African star Jacques Kallis, who believes the England captain will perform well in the conditions of India.
One of England's key players as they attempt to defend their World Cup title in India will be Buttler. The wicketkeeper, who was regarded as one of the best performers in the IPL, was crucial to England's victory at the T20 World Cup last year.
Buttler has scored 3223 runs from 96 games in the T20 league he has participated in, with a commendable strike rate of 148.32. Buttler had a stellar IPL season in 2022, scoring 863 runs at an average of 57.53 from 17 games while also hitting four triple-hundreds.
His services were crucial in helping Rajasthan Royals get to the IPL 2022 championship game, where they fell to Gujarat Titans.
Despite this, Buttler has a poor track record in India for one-day internationals, scoring just 83 runs in eight games at an average of just 11. Despite this, Kallis believes Buttler will wind up being the World Cup's top run-scorer.
The South African star told ICC that he likes England's captain in Indian circumstances and believes that he will be the one to defend his team throughout the competition.
"Jos Butler, in my opinion, will be the top run scorer. An outside call, but given the circumstances, I like him. I believe, him, me, he's going to be the one man that stands up, along with England having a successful World Cup, said Kallis.
