Karnataka's decision to end the NEP is described as "anti-student" by the Union Education Minister

On Tuesday, the Karnataka government's plan to abolish the NEP was criticized as being "anti-student" by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who also urged the state's Congress administration not to play political games with the prospects of the younger generation.

Last Monday, Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, announced that the NEP would be abolished in the state as of the upcoming academic year.

He said that his administration would work to provide education in conformity with the Constitution by repealing the NEP, which had been implemented by the state's previous BJP administration.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, was also harshly criticized by the Union minister, who claimed that while his "preposterous" comments on the National Education Policy (NEP) may have pleased his political bosses in Delhi, they jeopardized the interests of Karnataka children.

Shivakumar had written in Kannada on X, "After taking office, we vowed to scrap the National Education Policy, and we are determined to keep that commitment. Why is Karnataka the first state to implement the NEP? Why have Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh not adopted the NEP?

He added that the education system in Karnataka serves as a national example. Bangalore is currently the IT capital because of this. Because of our educational system, so many residents of the state have respectable positions abroad, according to Shivakumar.

"NEP is a future document for the 21st century, not a political document," Pradhan said in a statement to media. The 21st century's new emerging technology is the subject of NEP.

Is early childhood care and education opposed by Shivakumar and the Congress as a component of formal education? Does he not want our kids to have a solid grasp of literacy and math by the time they finish second grade?

Does he object to locally produced Indian toys, games, and play-based education for our kids? Does he reject Kannada and other Bharatiya bhasha (language) education? Does he not support the transparent administration of tests like the NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test), CUET (Common University Entrance Test), and JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) in Bharatiya Bhasha, including Kannada? Pradhan enquired.
