Day 1 of the Asia Cup 2023 has given Bangladesh a severe blow. The top batter for Bangladesh, Litton Das, has been disqualified from the competition after failing to recuperate from a viral fever.
The batter missed Bangladesh's initial match in Pallekele, scheduled for August 31, according to Minhajul Abedin, the chairman of the National Selection Panel.

His replacement, 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Anamul Haque Bijoy, has been chosen by the National Selection Panel of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and will go to Sri Lanka later on August 30.
Bijoy has played 44 ODIs for Bangladesh and amassed 1254 runs, including three hundreds. In a home series against India in December of last year, he last played in an ODI.
He (Anamul) has been successful in domestic cricket, and the Bangladesh Tigers program has continued to keep an eye on him. He was constantly taken into account, Minhajul Abedin remarked on Tuesday.
We needed a top-order batter who could maintain wicket because Litton was unavailable, and Anamul received the nod, he continued.
Before this tournament, Bangladesh experienced a leadership crisis. Tamim Iqbal, the captain, resigned from his position and declared his retirement from ODI cricket.Â
Later, after speaking with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he changed his mind. Shakib Al Hasan, an accomplished captain, was given the reins till the ODI World Cup 2023 while Litton was in line for the position.
