Kochi police arrested a 23-year-old man for dressing up as a woman with a hijab and taking a video from the women's restroom.
The incident happened at a popular shopping mall on Tuesday night. The defendant, identified as Abhimanyu, is a robotics graduate working in Kochi.
He was arrested and detained for 14 days. He was convicted under IPC Section 354(C) (Innocent), 419 (Impersonation), and Section 66E of the Computer Act. According to police, he entered the shopping mall's women's restroom, put his phone in a box, and left it at the door to record a video. Noticing his suspicious behavior, the security officer informed the police.
Police also seized Abhimanyu's phone and head scarf.
Police are investigating whether he had previously engaged in such activities.
