Man arrested with 21 guns in Delhi before Independence Day  


Ahead of Independence Day, the Special Police Division of the Delhi Police arrested a 32-year-old man and seized 21 pistols from him, officials said on Saturday.

Lal Singh Chaudhary, a resident of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, illegally supplied the weapons to Delhi-NCR after purchasing them from Burhanpur in his home state, they said.

On August 4, police learned that Chadhar was approaching the Gandhi Museum on the Ring Road to deliver a shipment to one of his contacts, Special Police Commissioner (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said.

Dhaliwal said a trap was set up and at around 3:20 p.m. Chadhar was captured and 21 .32 caliber pistols were seized from him, Dhaliwal said.

Chadhar started supplying illegal weapons to Delhi-NCR after coming into contact with Rajesh Pyasi from Sagar, who runs an illegal weapons organization, the official said. Police said that to buy the gun, he borrowed money from a friend and mortgaged his wife's jewelry as he hoped to make a lot of money, police said, adding that he bought a gun with for 7,000 rupees and sold it for about 30,000 rupees.
