A 2nd grader, on his way to school, died after being hit by a truck in Kolkata's Behala on Friday morning. Police sources said the alleged truck driver was arrested.
The miner, on his way to school, was crossing the street with his father when a truck hit them on Diamond Harbor Road in Behala around 7:30 a.m. early this morning. The boy died on the spot and the father was injured.
After the accident, locals organized protests and even burned vehicles on the road to protest the student's death. The road was also closed for hours after clashes broke out between police and locals, injuring two people.
Sources said police arrested the alleged lorry driver and also detained 10 people in connection with the clash.
