Mumbai local rail services are affected by a Churchgate signal failure

Local Western Railway (WR) rail services were disrupted due to signal loss at Churchgate in South Mumbai on Tuesday morning, according to railway officials.

Some passengers claimed that due to signal loss, WR commuter services were hit hard during the morning rush hour, and local trains, considered the lifeblood of Mumbai, were running late at least. 15 to 20 minutes.

A signal on the fast uphill line (towards Churchgate) generated a technical problem at 8:50 a.m., prompting authorities to divert trains on the slow uphill line for the next 30 minutes, a US official said. Western Railway said.

Rail services on the line resumed after the signal was restored at 9:22 a.m., the official said.

Western Railway operates commuter services between Churchgate (southern Mumbai) and Dahanu (in nearby Palghar) stations.
