A 26-year-old man has died after being crushed between a moving train and the platform at Zion station in Mumbai. The play was filmed by CCTV, happening around 9 a.m.:
3 p.m. Sunday when Dinesh fell to the track after being slapped by a man during an argument.
CCTV showed Dinesh, wearing a matching white shirt and trousers, allegedly hitting Sheetal Mane (30) on the platform. An angry Sheetal was later seen hitting Dinesh repeatedly with her umbrella. Soon after, her husband, Avinash (35), slapped Dinesh, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the track. As the train approached, shocked passengers ran to the edge of the platform to save Dinesh. Many of them waved frantically - Sheetal also waved her umbrella - to stop the train as Dinesh tried in vain to climb onto the platform.
It got stuck between the carriage and the platform, rolling several times before disappearing under the carriage.
Dinesh Rathore has worked for Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST).
The railway police had initially filed an accidental death report (ADR) in connection with the incident. However, CCTV footage from the station confirmed that Dinesh fell onto the tracks after being slapped. Police later arrested the couple.
